NACElink Privacy Policy
You are now on the NACElink web site, owned
and operated by the National Association of Colleges and
Employers (NACE). NACE is committed to maintaining the privacy
of personal information of the people who use ("you" or
"user") of NACElink ("Site"). Since we collect certain types
of information about our users, we want you to understand the
terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that
information. This privacy statement discloses what information
we collect, how we use it, and how to correct and change it.
NACE will provide a link to this privacy policy on all pages
on NACElink.com that ask for your personal information.
NACElink is a national, web-based system for
recruiting college students for all types of employment, e.g.,
full-time, part-time, internship, co-op, work-study, alumni,
etc. NACElink includes three components: job-posting, resume
data base, and interview scheduling.
Employers use NACElink to post employment
opportunities and search the central resume data base directly
on NACElink.com, through a college's or university's web site,
or DirectEmployers Association's web site. Some college and
university career centers, NACElink Custom schools, use
NACElink to provide a web-based system for job posting, resume
data base, registration, and interview scheduling for its
students and for the employers who recruit on their campuses.
Other college and university career centers, NACElink Connect
schools, use NACElink to provide access for students to only
job postings and a central resume data base housed on NACElink.
Students/job seekers use NACElink though their
college/university career centers to post resumes and review
job opportunities.
Through NACElink.com, different types of data
are collected from schools, employers, and students/job
seekers. NACE's commitment to all users—schools, employers,
and students/job seekers—is that NACE will maintain the
confidentiality of all information collected on NACElink. NACE
will not sell, transmit, or disclose in any fashion this
information to any other organization except for our alliance
partner DirectEmployers.com, who will host the data. The
information collected on NACElink.com is stored in outside
secure servers hosted by DirectEmployers Association (DirectEmployers),
NACE's partner in providing NACElink.com to you.
NACE and DirectEmployers have access to
individual data for the purpose of providing customer and
technical services to the school, employer, or student user.
However, NACE may run reports on employment trends. These
reports will aggregate employment data. The reports will not
use any student/jobseeker data, nor will the reports use any
personally identifiable information from schools or employers.
For example, NACE may report that there are 1,200 jobs posted
seeking accounting majors in the NACElink system; that 45
percent of the jobs are in the southwest geographic area; that
35 percent of the job postings are for internship positions.
Types of data collected
NACElink Custom schools
DirectEmployers receives and collects
personally identifiable information about student users (such
as name, contact information, demographic information,
academic history, etc.) from you via NACElink after a student
registers for services and when the student uploads resumes,
cover letters, writing samples, and other documents which
contain personal information about the student through your
career center's web site. DirectEmployers will also receive
and collect from you job postings (including job descriptions,
employment qualifiers, and salary information) and interview
schedules from employers who post employment opportunities on
your career center web site.
DirectEmployers is the career center's host
server, storing and maintaining the data.
NACE and DirectEmployers will have access to
the individual, personal information that is transmitted from
your career center for the purpose of providing customer and
technical services. Neither NACE nor DirectEmployers will use
or access this data for any other purpose. However, NACE may
run reports on employment trends. These reports will aggregate
employment data. The reports will not use any
student/jobseeker data, nor will the reports use any
personally identifiable information from schools or employers.
In that connection, depending on your internal
policies, your staff and administrators may have the ability
to access and use some or all of the student's personal
information that is housed by NACElink, including, without
limitation, the ability to send e-mail to a student using
communication tools on the Site and, in certain instances, to
publish resumes in the school's resume book(s) on the Site,
and to send resumes to employers on behalf of a student. While
NACE strongly discourages this practice, should your staff
have access to employer information, such as contact
information, passwords, and job postings, you should advise
employers that you have such access and how you will be using
the employer data. The school's career center and the
activities and practices of its staff and administrators are
not subject to this Privacy Policy, and NACE is not
responsible for what colleges or universities do with personal
information about students/job seekers that is available or
accessible to you on or through the Site. NACE strongly
encourages each school to post prominently its privacy policy
on the career center's web site, including its policy
regarding access to and use of employer data.
Besides the student information that
DirectEmployers will store for career services centers,
NACElink will also collect contact information (such as your
phone number or e-mail address), unique identifiers (such as
your NACE membership or account numbers, or password to
NACElink); and financial information (such as a credit card
number), and demographic information (for example, your age,
location, type of organization, size of organization). The
financial information collected will be used only to bill your
school for the maintenance and license fees. Your credit card
information will be deleted as soon as the transaction is
completed and will not be stored on DirectEmployers's servers.
You will have to re-enter that information each time there is
a new financial transaction.
There may come a time when NACE will have the
capability to ask for information for surveys and polling
purposes. You may choose to provide or not to provide, at your
sole discretion, the information that is requested in the
surveys or polls. The results of the surveys or polls could be
used to improve NACElink, provide data on employment trends,
or for other reporting purposes. Should you participate in the
polls or surveys your identity and personal information will
not be disclosed to any third party in any fashion.
NACElink Connect schools
NACE will provide a link from the career
services web site to NACElink. Students/job seekers will
access NACElink directly from this link and will create a
personal password at the time of registration. Students/job
seekers will directly input their data into the NACElink
system. NACE and DirectEmployers will have access to personal
information for the purpose of providing customer and
technical services. NACElink Connect schools—the career
services staff, administrators, and faculty—will not have
access to any of the personally identifiable student data or
employer job posting data housed on the NACE link system.
Students/job seekers
DirectEmployers receives and collects
personally identifiable information about you, a student user,
(name, contact information, demographic information, academic
history, G.P.A, employment history, etc.). DirectEmployers
receives this when you register with NACElink by completing a
profile directly on NACElink or through your college or
university's career center web site.
A student also may choose to participate in
the central resume data base on NACElink. This means that your
personal profile information and resume will be searchable by
and accessible to the employers/search firms that have access
to that data base but who may not recruit on your school's
campus.
DirectEmployers is the host server for
information collected on NACElink, storing and maintaining the
data. NACE and DirectEmployers have access to the individual
personal information that you provide to your career center
for the purpose of providing customer and technical services
to you or the career office. Furthermore, DirectEmployers
Association is specifically prohibited from using the
individual personal data it is storing for any other purposes.
However, NACE may run reports on employment trends. These
reports will aggregate employment data. The reports will not
use any student/jobseeker data, nor will the reports use any
personally identifiable information from schools or employers.
If your school is a NACElink Custom school,
the career center staff, faculty, and administrators from your
school may have the ability to access and use some or all of
your personal information on the Site, including, without
limitation, the ability to send you e-mail using communication
tools on the Site and, in certain instances, to publish your
resume in the school's resume book(s) on the Site and to send
resumes to employers on your behalf. Your school's career
center and the activities and practices of its staff and
administrators are not subject to this Privacy Policy, and
NACE is not responsible for what they do with personal
information about students/job seekers which is available or
accessible to them on or through the Site. If you have
questions regarding the practices and policies of your
school's career center with respect to your personal
information, we recommend that you contact them directly.
If your school is a NACElink Connect school,
career center staff, faculty, and administrators from your
school will not have the ability to access any of your
personal information on NACElink.
If you want to know whether your school has
full access to your data on NACElink, please contact your
career center.
Employers/search firms that use NACElink
directly through NACElink or through your school's career
center web site will have access to your resume and the
personal information contained therein for recruiting,
interviewing, and hiring purposes. Employers will also have
access to limited information from your profile-name, school
attending, graduation date, degrees, GPA, major, e-mail
address, and relocation preference. Employers will only have
access to this information if your profile matches an
employer's search criteria.
The employers/search firms and their
activities and practices of their staffs are not subject to
this Privacy Policy and NACE is not responsible for what they
do with personal information about you which is available or
accessible to them on the career centers site or through
NACElink. If you have questions regarding the privacy
practices and policies of the employers/search firms with
respect to your personal information, we recommend that you
contact each employer/search firm directly.
While NACE endeavors to restrict access to
this data base to eligible employers, NACE cannot guarantee
that other parties will not, without our consent, gain access
to the data base as well. You may remove your resume from the
central resume data base at any time. However, employers and
search firms who have access to this data base, and other
parties who have otherwise gained access to the data base, may
have retained a copy of your resume in their own files or data
bases. NACE is not responsible for the retention, use, or
privacy of resumes in these instances or for the use or
privacy of resumes or other personal information of
students/job seekers by any of such parties while such resumes
or personal information are in the central resume data base
Employers
DirectEmployers will receive and collect from
employers job postings (including job descriptions, employment
qualifiers, and salary information) and interview schedules
posted on career center web sites either directly through
NACElink, through the DirectEmployers Association web site, or
through the career center's web site. The information
collected will be housed by DirectEmployers on NACElink.
DirectEmployers is the employer's host server, storing and
maintaining the data.
In addition to the employment information that
NACE will collect and receive from you, NACE will collect
contact information (such as your phone number or e-mail
address), unique identifiers (such as your NACE membership or
account numbers, your DirectEmployers membership account
number, or your password to NACElink) and financial
information (such as a credit card number), and demographic
information (for example, your age, location, type of
organization, size of organization). The financial information
collected will be used only to bill your organization for the
job posting and resume search transactional fees that you will
be charged for use of NACElink. Your credit card information
will be deleted as soon as the transaction is completed and
will not be stored on NACE's or DirectEmployers's servers. You
will have to re-enter that information each time there is a
new financial transaction.
NACE may run reports on employment trends.
These reports will aggregate employment data. The reports will
not use any student/jobseeker data, nor will the reports use
any personally identifiable information from schools or
employers.
NACE has a contract with VeriSign to verify
credit card numbers. VeriSign may only use your credit card
information for those purposes.
There may come a time when NACE will have the
capability to ask for information for surveys and polling
purposes. You may choose to provide or not to provide, at your
sole discretion, the information that is requested. The
results of the surveys or polls could be used to improve
NACElink, provide employment trend data, or for other relevant
reports. Should you participate in the polls or surveys your
identity and personal information will not be disclosed to any
third party in any fashion.
How Will NACE Use Personally Identifiable

information to or with third parties without your permission.
