Criminal Justice
(24 month Associate Program)
The Associate of Science degree program
in Criminal Justice is designed to prepare the
student for entry into or advancement within the
criminal justice system in any of the many areas
existing within the career field. These areas
include, but are not limited to: law enforcement,
public safety, corrections, court administration,
crime prevention, victim assistance and loss
prevention.
The field
of criminal justice centers around the control of
criminal behavior in the maintenance of public
order and includes the primary functions of law
enforcement, prosecution, trial, corrections, and
associated responsibilities as well as the secure
management, safe keeping, and control of inmates
committed to jail or prison custody performed in a
humane manner in compliance with constitutional
standards.
The
program is delivered in eight twelve-week quarters.
Many of the courses are designed to be offered on a
rotating basis. Program completion normally
requires 24 months for full-time students.
Upon successful completion of all areas of the
program, graduates will receive an Associate of
Science or Associate of Applied Science Degree in
Criminal Justice.
