The
objective of the Medical Insurance and Coding
Program is to provide graduates with the skills and
knowledge that will enable them to qualify for
entry-level positions in medical insurance billing.
The program is divided into 8
learning units called modules. Students complete
the first 7 modules, and upon successful completion
of the initial 7 modules, then participate in an
externship. The externship exposes the student to
an actual billing environment, allowing for observation of the coding and billing process with the
assistance of the school-based externship
coordinator. The program completion normally
requires 32 weeks for full-time students.
